Ashley spent the first 10 years of his career working as an engineer at Apollo Control, a studio privately run by dance/rock pioneers Apollo 440 in London.
He worked on Apollo 440 projects ranging from single, album and remix productions to game soundtracks, tv adverts to library music.
During this time, he also became a member of the Apollo 440 live band, performing to large crowds headlining festivals and tours around Europe.
Whilst at Apollo Control, he gained a wealth of engineering knowledge and experience working with countless singers/bands/artists/producers both established and new. He worked with Producer/Engineer Howard Gray (Apollo 440, UB40, Scritti Politti) and Producer/Songwriter John Fortis (Ellie Goulding, Razorlight, Paolo Nutini) on sessions including Art Brut, Eight Legs and Cazals. Further projects led to recording and mixing credits on albums by folk-blues singer Josh Bray, electro-indie band Drive-By Argument and influential post-punk band Magazine. Ashley engineered two full feature film soundtracks composed by Noko (of Apollo 440 & Magazine), mixing both in stereo and 5.1.
Ashley worked with John Fortis on many of his production and songwriting projects including engineering and programming on Ellie Goulding's hit singles 'Explosions' (UK#13) and 'How Long Will I Love You' (UK#3) as well as Irish folk-pop duo Hudson Taylor's 'Chasing Rubies'. He also recorded Ellie's vocals for Skrillex - 'Summit', Zedd - 'Fall Into The Sky' as well as her cover of 'High For This' by The Weeknd.
Turning freelance in 2013, Ashley has since focused on mixing although he still enjoys recording and production. Mostly working from his home set-up in London he has mixed for artists all over the globe from the US and Canada to Taiwan and Australia. Ashley also mixed songs on Mando-pop legend Sun Yanzi's latest album in Asia. Closer to home, he has mixed songs for singer-songwriter Matt Wills, with whom Ashley had previously recorded, mixed and produced an EP that helped him get signed to Virgin EMI. Ashley joined indie band The Blackwhite and helped them produce a well received EP. Collaborating with Guitarist/Producer Guy Prall he has engineered and mixed releases by exciting new artists such as Serve The Servants, Tola Sun and Australian singer Jay Le Kat.
